Sombrero Roto 2010 is the result of innovative thinking in wine-making, achieved through a process that incorporates patience, honesty, and expertise. Sombrero Roto 2010 is a reserve wine that originates from the land of Ábalos, located in the Rioja Alta region by the foothill of the Sierra de Toloño mountain.

Production

The harvesting and selecting of grapes is done manually. Following this, the fruit goes through a de-stemming process, leaving only the grapes and their juice. Without adding pressure, the grapes hang down naturally, falling whole into the vat, where they are left to soak and ferment for 15 to 20 days. During this process, the natural nutrients found in the peel are extracted.

Location

The Sierra de Toloño belongs to the mountain range of the Sierra de Cantabria. The city of Ábalos, with a population of 250, is located in the Rioja Alta, which is flanked by the Ebro river.

Winery

Solana de Ramírez Ruiz Winery is a family business based in Ábalos, with a long tradition in grape wine cultivation, as well as the fabrication and aging of its wines.

Composition

70% Tempranillo - 30% Graciano.

20 days of soaking and fermentation at 26°C.
24 months in French and American oak.
40 months in underground warehouses.
Serving temperature between 16ºC and 18ºC.
